The most seductive opera ever written arrives at Warwick Arts Centre, starring international mezzo soprano Nadia Stoianova, whose portrayals of Carmen have won rapturous reviews.
Produced and directed by Ellen Kent, this dazzling new production is traditionally staged and features international soloists and the full Chisinau National Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus.
Carmen is the story of the bewitching gypsy girl whose tantalising beauty lures a soldier to desertion and leads to her own murder. Set in Seville and reflecting a Goya painting, with fountains, flowers and orange trees, Carmen guarantees an evening of passion and romance, and features some of the most evocative and best-loved melodies in opera; The Habanera, The Seguidilla, The Flower Song, The Chanson Bohème and perhaps the best-known baritone aria of all, The Toreador’s Song.
Sung in French with English surtitles.
